NASA's Juno takes nearest pictures of Jupiter's moon Europa

On Thursday Sept 29, NASA's Juno send back some of the closest and epic images ever taken of the icy world.

The first image NASA’s Juno spacecraft took as it flew by Jupiter’s ice moon Europa has arrived on Earth.

This captured image revealing surface detail in a region surround the moon’s equator called Annwn Regio.

This is the closest photo taken since Jan. 3, 2000 by any spacecraft. This image is captures from 500 km altitude.

Scientists think that a salty ocean must be present below it's surface. Europa is the 6th largest moon in our solar system.

Juno had only two hours time to collect data, because it travelled with 23.6 kilometers per second around the Europa.

Europa's next mission is Clipper that will arrived in 2030. It will study atmosphere, surface and interior.
