Antarctic sea ice shrunk to a document low in February this 12 months. Satellite tv for pc measurements revealed that solely 66% of the ocean ice extent normally detected in the course of the peak of the southern summer season has been current within the waters surrounding the South Pole final month. 

The earlier month-to-month document low was reported in 2017 out of a collection of measurements that dates again to 1979, the European environment-monitoring agency Copernicus mentioned in an emailed assertion.
