View at EarthSky Community Photos. | Solar-watchers noticed a full-halo event on April 21, 2023, suggesting a robust blast from the sun (a coronal mass ejection or CME) immediately geared toward Earth. It arrived late within the day on April 23, and its results mixed with solar wind from a coronal hole supplied us an amazing night time for auroras! EarthSky’s Kelly Kizer Whitt wrote: “Wonderful aurora tonight. Flickering and rippling throughout the sky. We bought fortunate that the clouds cleared.
