A satellite system designed to trace hurricanes can reveal the place damaging microplastics accumulate within the ocean. A brand new examine now reveals why. 

In 2021, researchers from the College of Michigan and Southwest Analysis Institute discovered that spacecraft from the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System can distinguish areas within the ocean with larger concentrations of microplastics.
