North Korea plans to launch a spy satellite into orbit by April 2023, in keeping with the nation’s state media.

State media outlet Korean Central Information Company (KCNA) introduced the plans on Monday (Dec. 19) following what it referred to as an “vital, closing phase” check launch of a rocket so as to confirm floor techniques, sensors and telemetry. The nation’s solely English-language information outlet, The Pyongyang Instances, reports (opens in new tab) that North Korea’s space company will now “end the preparations for the primary navy reconnaissance satellite by April 2023.”
