Just some days later, the rover took one other distinctive picture of sunbeams peeking out from behind cloud formations, options generally known as crepuscular rays. (The distinction was enhanced within the picture above.) That is the primary time the sort of mild sample was caught on Mars.


Each pictures are a part of a survey being performed from January to mid-March. The survey first started in 2021 and targeted on learning noctilucent, or night time shining clouds. Martian clouds are sometimes situated some 37 miles (60 kilometers) above the bottom and are normally crammed with water ice. Nevertheless, the clouds in these pictures are believed to reside larger within the ambiance. In that case, the gorgeous clouds pictured listed below are almost certainly made from frozen carbon dioxide, or dry ice.


Curiosity was launched to the planet in 2011 with the purpose of learning martian environments and geology, in addition to looking for biomarkers suggestive of previous or current life on the Crimson Planet. By now learning the planet’s clouds in surveys like this, Curiosity is providing perception into Mars’ atmospheric composition, winds, and total climate patterns.
