Till now we have discovered 30,039 Near Earth Asteroids in the solar system. All are rocky bodies orbiting around the sun.
Near Earth Asteroid (NSA) is known as when its trajectory brings it within 1.3 Astronomical Units (au) of the sun.
What is NEA?
1 au means, it is the distance between distance between the sun and Earth. Near Earth Asteroid can come within at least 0.3 au.
1 au means?
Most of these asteroids present in the asteroid belt which is between Jupiter and Mars. First asteroid was discovered in 1801.
First (NEA) Near Earth Asteroid was Eros, it's discovered on 13 August 1898. It is roughly 30 km asteroid.
Any asteroid that discovered near Earth qualifies as a Near Earth Asteroid (NEA), but many are found far from home, so all NEA asteroids are not harmful.
All NEAs are risky?

None of the near-Earth asteroids discovered so far to strike on Earth, for at least one hundred years. Some smaller will do strike on Earth.
Will any of these asteroids strike Earth?
Good news is that more than half of today's known Near-Earth Asteroids were discovered in the last six years.
