Climate change is very big factor that affects life. Mars show example of climate change because of greenhouse effect.
Some 3.7 to 4.1 billion years ago, Mars was more favorable to allow life. Mainly microbes life that take hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
All micro-organisms after taking hydrogen & carbon dioxide released methane in the atmosphere.
Production of Methane
Production of Methane
Due to the production of too much methane leads to "Global cooling event". Research published in journal Nature Astronomy.
Global cooling event
Global cooling event
Microbes that produces methane normally present in extreme environments such as hydrothermal vents.
Effect on Microbes
Effect on Microbes
Because of "Global Cooling Event" would have ended potential warm conditions and reduce the ability for life to survive on Mars surface.
Main reason is greenhouse gas effect, due to excessive production of methane atmosphere gets cooler and alter the climate.
Atmosphere completely thinned so their energy source is vanished, so they would have had to find an another source of energy for survival.
Continously dropping temperature causes they would have had to go much deeper into the Mars crust. So no life on Mars surface.
