Japan will send an Astronaut to the Moon along with NASA on the International Space Station (ISS) until 2030.
Along with this mission NASA wants to send contributing components for a future lunar outpost in Artemis program.
On thursday Japan and NASA signed the Gateway Implementing Agreement, which mean Japan’s contribution to NASA’s lunar Gateway.
The Gateway is a planned space station in orbit around the Moon to support NASA's Artemis program for establishment of Astronauts.
As per agreement Japan's space agency JAXA will provide parts for the Gateway’s International Habitation module,
In turn NASA will fly a Japanese astronaut to the Gateway as a crew member on a future Artemis mission.
Same agreement has made with ESA and CSA by NASA. CSA will provide robotic arm in turn NASA will fly their Astronaut.
ESA will contribute two modules to the Gateway, in turn they secure their three seats in Artemis mission.
NASA extended operations on the ISS until from 2024 to 2030, for future Artemis program mission outpost.
On 16 Nov NASA succesfully aunches Artemis l mission. This mission will study the atmosphere of Moon for Artemis ll mission Astronauts.
