DART means Double Asteroid Redirection Test. NASA has published photos of the suddenly aftermath of the crash.
Captured images show the collision was crystal clear explosive. But how much change it had on the rock remains to be seen.
All these images were taken by a small satellite granted by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) that is the Light Italian CubeSat for Imaging of Asteroids, (LICIACube).
This image was captured before impact of spacecraft, taken by spacecraft itself from onboard camera.
Scientists believe that they might one day be able to divert asteroids that hazard for Earth using the same type of method.
Nasa announce the mission has been a full success. But researchers will be studying the asteroids motion closely over the coming days to see if and how the impact has affected their orbits.
In 2024, the European Space Agency (ESA) will launch a investigation mission called Hera, which will travel to the asteroid system to study more about the collision of the crash.
