Many noticed this uncommon waterspout over Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, Taiwan, yesterday (November 16, 2023). Bob Kuo – a longtime contributor of fascinating pictures to EarthSky’s group web page – wrote:

A uncommon deal with for vacationers! We have been wrapping up our first day of actions on the well-known landmark in Taiwan, the attractive Solar Moon Lake. As we lounged over the balcony overlooking the ferry pier, it started to rain and there was a robust gust of wind. I seen a faint funnel column started to appear and realized it was a waterspout forming proper in entrance of me! I didn’t waste time searching for my digital camera and simply fired away with my telephone to take pictures and a brief video. This uncommon sight lasted just for about 2 minutes.
