Mysterious Russian satellite breaks up in orbit, generating cloud of debris

A mysterious Russian satellite broke aside early final month, making a cloud of particles that might linger in Earth orbit for some time.

The Kosmos 2499 spacecraft disintegrated on the night time of Jan. 3, based on the U.S. Space Force‘s 18th Area Protection Squadron (18th SDS), which tracks human-made objects in orbit.
